Key Background
CF Chinook Centre Stampede Pancake Breakfast is a beloved Calgary tradition, having marked its 65th anniversary in 2025. This year it’s on Saturday, July 5, from 7 AM to 11 AM in the east mall parking lot. In a cheerful and daring initiative, organizers are trying to set the Guinness World Record for most pancakes served at one event. Breakfast will feature traditional Stampede staples: pyramids of pancakes stacked high, hot sausages, and freshly made Tim Hortons coffee — all free.
Over 25,000 Calgarians and tourists will be attending this huge community event. Activities at the event aside from food are family-friendly activities such as the Kiddie Corral, live country music by some of Calgary’s best local talent such as Madeline Merlo and Nolan Compton, and Stampede-line dancing. The event also raises money for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, which will see a cheque presentation included in the festivities for the day.
Friday, July 4th, also includes a unique Pancake Stacking Competition in Centre Court from 4-5 PM. The local celebrities and community leaders, teamed up together, will be issued unprecedented challenges by a “Wheel of Disadvantage” as they try to stack 65 pancakes. The winning team will have a $2,000 donation made to the charity of their choice.
CF Chinook Centre is also in on the Stampede fever with a Lookbook featuring fashion inspiration in western flair and a complimentary $10 CF SHOP! card with $100 or more spent. Getting green is important too with the event being powered by a zero-waste initiative by Green at Work.
