Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP) has unveiled plans to invest an additional $105.5 million into its Moorabbin plant in Victoria, Australia. This marks the largest investment CCEP has ever made in its Australian manufacturing network and will fund the installation of a state-of-the-art warmfill line dedicated to producing Powerade and Fuze Tea beverages.
The investment is a strategic response to the rising demand for sports drinks, particularly sugar-free options. The new warmfill line will integrate with the existing plant, enabling CCEP to more efficiently deliver beverages to customers across Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia.
The expansion project includes constructing a 4,200-square-metre manufacturing hall, installing a high-speed Nitro-Warmfill line capable of producing 640 bottles per minute, and upgrading essential infrastructure such as water treatment, electrical systems, and heating and cooling systems. A syrup room will also be developed for warmfill product manufacturing.
Once completed, the new line will allow CCEP to produce Powerade and Fuze Tea in Victoria, supplementing existing production in Brisbane and Perth. The project is expected to reduce inter-business transportation of warmfill products and raw materials by 2.9 million kilometers annually, cutting CO2 emissions by approximately 3,785 tonnes per year.
Vaughan Constructions has been appointed to oversee the facility upgrade, which begins this month. The fully operational site is anticipated by Q1 2026, with the new line set to deliver up to 17.8 million unit cases annually.
Orlando Rodriguez, Managing Director at CCEP Australia, emphasized the significance of this investment: “Our commitment to supporting growth within the sports category is integral to our overall expansion goals, underlining our steadfast belief in this sector. CCEP remains dedicated to continual business investment to increase capacity and enhance efficiency while maintaining a sustainable operation, in line with our growth ambitions.
