Crespel & Deiters, a leading wheat processor, has announced a significant milestone with the construction of a new €18.5 million silo building in Ibbenbüren, Germany. This project marks the largest infrastructure investment in the company’s history, underscoring its commitment to enhancing operational capabilities and securing its value chain for global flexibility.
The new development will significantly expand Crespel & Deiters’ storage and handling capacities. The project involves the removal of four smaller silos to make way for the state-of-the-art facility, which will feature 18 advanced silo cells. Once completed, the facility is expected to process approximately 2,000 tons of wheat and is slated to become operational by early 2026.
This investment is the latest in a series of expansions at the Ibbenbüren site, where the company has been steadily enhancing its operations. In 2018, Crespel & Deiters established a flour storage and separation plant, integrating raw material storage, loading bridges, and machinery. In 2021, a new energy-efficient A-starch dryer was installed, further optimizing the site’s operational efficiency, hygiene standards, and reliability.
The ongoing investments reflect Crespel & Deiters’ strategy to streamline its wheat ingredients production process, making it more efficient and resilient.
Steffen von Glahn, COO of Crespel & Deiters Group, highlighted the importance of these developments: “The functionality and growth of our sites are the backbone of our global operations. The Ibbenbüren location is central to our activities, as it houses the primary processing and refining processes. Investing in infrastructure is a clear commitment to our headquarters amid increasing global uncertainties. At the same time, we are reinforcing partnerships with trusted local contractors, thereby strengthening our supply chain network.”
