Key Background

Mesa County Public Health issued a food notice after a recall of some ready-to-eat ham salad foods for possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. It came after the product was made using contaminated breadcrumbs supplied by Newly Weds Foods, and are one of a national food recall.

The products recalled are Reser’s Fine Foods Ham Salad packed in 12- oz published plastic holders with sell- by date of Sept. 1, 2025, and Molly’s Kitchen Ham Salad packed in 5- lb clear holders with sell- by date of Aug. 31, 2025. The recalled particulars were packed across the country and can have arrived at retail outlets and foodservice establishments. Consumers who have formerly bought these particulars are explosively advised not to consume them and dispose of them instantly.

No illness cases have been noted so far, but Listeria monocytogenes is a virulent organism capable of developing fulminant infection, particularly in pregnant immunocompromised women, neonates, and elderly individuals. Its impact ranges from fever, nausea, and myalgia to the most severe form of invasive disease requiring hospitalization.

The government emphasizes that the recall is preventive and in the interest of not being subjected to any future health hazard. Informed consumers may also call through public health hotlines or the product manufacturer for more information. An ongoing investigation, and more notifications might be issued if other products are also involved.
